Wootton Primary School celebrates 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating in all five categories

We are proud to announce that Wootton Primary School in Northampton, which joined the Tove Learning Trust in 2020, has been awarded the highest possible judgement ‘Outstanding’ across all five categories in its latest Ofsted inspection, conducted in June 2025.

This exceptional outcome reflects the school’s unwavering commitment to excellence and its aspirational vision for every pupil. The Ofsted report commends Wootton Primary for ensuring that pupils achieve exceptionally well across the curriculum, supported by a clear and purposeful motto “to develop a sense of themselves, a sense of others, and a sense of the world.”

The inspector highlighted the school’s outstanding character development, noting “Pupils talk warmly about respecting and being kind to themselves. The school’s work to develop pupils’ character is top-notch. Pupils behave exceptionally well. They are happy and enjoy coming to this joyful and welcoming school”.

The school’s values of respect, honesty, courage, ambition, care, cooperation, friendship, and responsibility are deeply embedded in its culture. The inspector noted “Pupils live by these values and recognise their importance now and for the future.”

Headteacher Rob Crilly expressed “We are absolutely thrilled and incredibly proud to have been judged 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in all five areas. This is a monumental achievement for Wootton Primary School and a true testament to the hard work and dedication of every single person in our school community.

The report's findings resonate deeply with our school's ethos. The inspectors' comments on the "joyful and welcoming" nature of our school, the exemplary behaviour of our pupils, and our "top-notch" work in developing their character are particularly rewarding. They are a reflection of the caring and ambitious environment we strive to create every day.”

The report highlights the school's ambitious and well-designed curriculum, which helps students develop a deep understanding of all subjects. The inspector remarked, “The school makes sure that all teachers have the knowledge they need to teach all subjects well. Pupils enjoy their learning and demonstrate exemplary attitudes throughout the day”. For pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), the curriculum is broad and inclusive. Activities are meticulously organised to meet a diverse range of needs. “Pupils with SEND achieve well from their starting points.”

Reading is a fundamental aspect of the school's approach, inspiring pupils to read fluently, confidently, and comprehensively. As a result, pupils have a strong passion for reading. The school also offers diverse opportunities for pupils to contribute meaningfully to school life and the wider community.

The school’s pastoral care is equally commendable, the inspector noted. “Support for attendance and behaviour is extensive. Staff welcome pupils unconditionally. Unsurprisingly, parents hold the school in high regard. This is a united and highly ambitious school”.

Wootton Primary School is proud to be part of Tove Learning Trust. Jamie Clarke, CEO, is delighted with the Outstanding outcomes. He said: “It is a wonderful recognition of the exceptionally high quality of education that the school provides. It is pleasing that inspectors recognised that this is true for all pupils and celebrates the highly inclusive approach leaders and staff take. This is a school that we should all be very proud to be part of.”

The Outstanding rating reflects the collective dedication of everyone involved in Wootton Primary School. The trust is extremely proud of the ongoing effort and support demonstrated by staff, students, parents, carers, and the wider community.
